Square Enix recently confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be released on April 14th for PlayStation 4. Meanwhile, producer Naoki Yoshida also talked about details on the upcoming patch 2.2 in their latest Letter from the Producer Q&A series for the game. Before we get to that, though, Yoshida revealed that the patch 2.16 will be released on February 22, just before 2.2 hits sometime in March. Now, here’s a look at some of the improvements and additions we’ll be seeing in patch 2.2
The most anticipated addition of the patch is most likely the new primal fight against the giant sea serpent, Leviathan. You’ll be able to fight it in Hard Mode and Extreme Mode with a full party. The patch will also be adding a more challenging fight against the Good King Moggle Mog XII with the Thornmarch Extreme Mode. We’ll also see Hard Mode versions of Brayflox’s Longstop and Halatali dungeons, among other additions.
Meanwhile, the producer Q&A also helped us solve the problems which all we ffxiv fans care about. What's the good news that the cost should be at its lowest value by the end of February. If it still seems to be too high at that point, the producer will consider lowering the value even further. As a side note, I previously mentioned being able to craft an airship inside of your house. You will be able to do this with any size so please don’t worry!
What's more players will be able to obtain very powerful weapons from the fight. As for the difficulty, it will be the hardest primal fight. On the other hand, the hard mode won’t be as difficult due to it being tied to the main storyline. You should be able to beat it after 2-3 attempts.Instead of trying to make small adjustments to try to improve the economy, the team plan for the economy to drastically change through the major patches.
