One of the best things about Final Fantasy XIV is allowed easy job changing rather than making a new character, but how can players do this? Here is how you can change jobs in Final Fantasy XIV.

How to Change Jobs in Final Fantasy XIV?

1. Completing your level 10 class quest

When you start the game, you pick a class and arrive at your starting city. Playing through your class quests teaches you the basics of playing your class. You'll need to reach at least level 10 before moving on to other classes. Once you complete your level 10 class quest, you're free to start branching out.

There are some minor restrictions for class switching: one cannot change during combat, within most instanced content (it is possible to switch during PvP setup), or while actions are still mid-completion server side.

2. Unlocking new classes

Unlike other MMORPGs, switching between classes or jobs in Final Fantasy XIV is relatively simple. You'll need to unlock the class you'd like to try out first, however. You can do so by completing that class' questline.

The starting challenge for each class can be picked up from their respective trainers, who offer quests and guidance.

    • In Gridania, you will find the Archer, Conjurer, and Lancer trainers.
    • In Limsa Lominsa, you will find the Marauder, Arcanist, and Rogue trainers.
    • In UI'dah, you will find the Gladiator, Thaumaturge, and Pugilist.

Each trainer is marked on your map with the class icons next to them, so head over to their location.

Every initial class quest is titled, "So You Want to Be a [Class Name]." If you're looking to become a gladiator, for example, you're on the right track once you have the quest, "So You Want to Be a Gladiator." Once you complete a class' questline, you'll receive its dedicated weapon. Of course, there are other rewards, such as the Final Fantasy XIV Gil. Equipping this weapon will change your class or job and skills to the class that the weapon belongs to.

3. Switching jobs and classes with gearsets

Players looking to switch between jobs and classes with ease can use the gear sets system. Gear sets allow players to save their current gear and give them the option to switch between jobs quickly.

    • Open your Character menu and select the page icon at the top of the window. This will bring up your gear list.
    • To add a new gear set, click on the plus icon, which will save your current gear and save your current class/job.

You can change your gear sets from this menu or drag and drop your settings to your Hotbar. When queueing for the Duty Finder, ensure you're on the class or job you aim to run the content on, as you can't change classes or jobs once inside an instance.

If you're having a tough time trying to unlock the class you'd like to try out, you can continue to follow the ffxiv4gil.com news page for the challenges guides you need to complete that can help you unlock new classes quickly.
